Self Portraits
Self Portraits/Alter Ego part of my Uni project

Well I thought perhaps I will give you an update on how my Uni project is going. My theme for my end of year show is based on a series of self portraits or alter ego as some may call it. I rarely photograph myself unless I am in a photograph with my family or friends. As a photographer you would expect me to do this on a regular basis, but this would be my first time ever in this position. I have decided that this would be the right way for me to take my project, put myself in your shoes and be in the firing line as you may say.
It is certainly a task I have set myself, basically because I am just an ordinary girl who happens to be a photographer, I am not a performer, nor an actress/model. I am confident as a person and how I can get the best photographs out of my clients, but when I find myself on the other side, its another story. So with that in mind, I need to feel what you feel, I needed to see how hard it can be for some people who do not feel confident in front of the camera.
By creating this series of self portraits/alter ego I am opening up my personal expectations and allowing the viewer a little glimpse inside. So just what is an alter ego? it is a second self, which is believed to be distinct from a person's normal or original personality. Looking back to the work I created last term with respect to my comic book characters, you could define them as having an alter ego. That second self I believe we all keep deep inside, you hear people say sometime that they wish they were someone else but why be someone else, why not let yourself be your second self once in a while.
My end of year show exhibition will be held at Carmarthen School of Art, Coleg Sir Gar in May 2016 and open to the public. The exhibition is due to open the week beginning the 9th May 2016 in the photographic studio pop along, there will be other students work on display too and well worth visiting.
